HomeThis is our second stay at this home. Mr. Dobson spent time teaching our kids how to make bamboo fishing poles and and feeding the animals. This is by far our favorite vacation spot! You will not find a better place or host! We will be back soon! Findeisens

Perfect Vacation Spot!
My husband and I and our four good friends rented this cabin for our anniversary. We could not have had a better vacation! Mr. Dobson was very welcoming and provided the upmost hospitality. The farm was very peaceful and the cabin was very warm and welcoming and relaxing! The view is gorgeous and right outside of Maggie valley and a short distance from Waynesville. We also visited Cherokee while we were there which wasn’t too far either. The two dogs Clyde and Polly stole a place in my heart and made the vacation even better. We caught our first trout in the pond and really enjoyed the fire pit. We are already planning to return next year for out anniversary! You can not go wrong with this place or owner for that matter! HIGHLY recommended! Stacey

Nice getaway!
There was lots to do on the property for the kids especially. Lots of animals to watch and feed. The two big farm dogs did their jobs well by protecting the other farm animals. In fact, my boxer didn’t like it a bit. I have two dogs that are used to running free and we had to walk them on the leash. Not a big deal, but I don’t recommend bringing large breed dogs as the resident dogs will see them as a threat. The cabin was spacious and comfortable. Be sure to bring paper products if you have a large family. You will also need condiments and spice and such. As with all cabins I rent, I take an inventory before I go to the grocery store. J.C. was very nice and brought firewood for the downstairs bedroom and took the boys around on the Polaris four wheel. They also loved the fishing pond. The adults enjoyed the front porch and the sound of the stream. I really enjoyed my stay!! Thanks JC!!

Wonderful stay
We spent an absolute wonderful time at Emerald Gate. Had my son and his family with us which included a two year old. The cabin was cozy with the fire place burning as it was pretty cold outside. JC took us up to the top of the property on his four wheel and it is beautiful. Two year old got to feed Hazel the horse some carrots and pat his head as well as feeding the chickens and the fish in the ponds. Took very winding ride to Catalooche Ranch near by and saw lots of Elk, deer, and wild turkey. Beautiful streams all around and would love to go back in summertime and go tubing. Could not have had a more gracious host in JC and he has all kinds of fruit trees and has garden that he plants so many vegetables in. If you want to have a very nice place to relax and vacation Emerald Gate meets all your needs.

Another Great vacation at the Farm
My family and I just got back from a week stay and as usual it was great. This was our second trip to the cabin and it was just as nice as the first time we stayed. We took my parents this year for the fisrt time and they enjoyed themselves immensely. My dad enjoyed riding around the area with J.C. on the mule and learning about the area. My mom enjoyed reading, both outside and by the fireplace. My wife and kids love the farm atmosphere with all the animals. It is just like home for us, except it’s in the mountains! Polly and Clyde are so friendly it’s hard not to love them. J.C. does a great job making you feel welcome and will entertain you with stories as well as helping around the farm if you are interested. My kids enjoyed fishing in the ponds as well as exploring in the woods on the mountain side. They picked vegetables from the garden and even fed the pig! We plan to visit again soon and can’t wait to get back. Thanks J.C.

Wonderful family vacation!
The house was warm and cozy and the property was awesome. My kids had a blast running around out side and playing with the dogs. John was a great host, friendly and accomodating. He was great with the kids! Would definitely reccomend this place to anyone visiting the area that wants a relaxing vacation and something fun right in the backyard for the kids to do.

spectacular
My wife nd I, my two daughters and their families, specnt a fantastic week at Emerald Gate. The web page made the place look great but it did not do justice to the farm. JC, Polly, clyde and other animals made emerald Gate etraordinary. JC even saw to it that the weather stayed great and the trees were in full color. The house itself, was clean, beds were comfortable, and unlike other cabons or homes we rented in the Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Ashvile area is was bug and cobweb free, and there was no musty odor. We all were sad when it was time to go and defitiely will return. It is a great place to get together with family and enjoy not only the farm but also the local area. Unlike the Gatlinburg area, traffic is light, restaurants are great and there is much shopping.

Wonderful Stay
This was our second trip to the area and first stay at the farm. We had a great time. The property was beautiful and the home was comfortable and spacious. The owner JC was very gracious and accommodating and we enjoyed his company. He was also readily available for any questions we had or if any problems would have arose. We had our daily outings (Zip-lining, Whitewater rafting, gem mining, hiking, etc.) but it was very relaxing to come back to the farm for dinner, start a fire and roast marshmallows, make s’mores and chill out. We enjoyed Polly and Clyde and felt safe with them roaming the grounds. We also enjoyed feeding the fish, ducks, geese, etc., and eating fresh vegetables from the garden. If we are fortunate enough to make a trip next year definitely plan on returning and hopefully will bring the grandkids as I know they would love it.

Our 2nd home!
JC, This is our 4th visit in a little over a year, and each time it gets better!. Your farm has become a second home for us, and You, Polly & Clyde have become part of our family. We can’t imagine ever coming to Maggie, without staying at the farm. It’s very sad that Sampson passed away, but we look forward to see what “critters” you acquire next. We will see you later this summer, as I try to get the whole extended Noel family back here, like we did last year. You are the best! Gary Spencer and Laura Noel – Feb 2012
Best family vacation ever
JC’s property was the perfect setting for our family vacation and Christmas Holiday. We stayed 12/25/11 through 1/1/12 and the house was perfect for for 12 people to stay. JC is a very gracious host and guide for the area. He pointed us towards Cataloochee valley one evening in the afternoon where we saw a large herd of wild elk and well over 100 wild turkey. The animals around the farm kept the kids very entertained as well as the fishing ponds but the biggest hit was Poly and Clyde the two very large very friendly dogs. The house is in a perfect location for exploring Great Smoky Mountain National Park. On the ride home the conversation was mainly about what time of year to come back as we truly loved the farm and JC’s company.

Coleman and Payne Families
Our family came here for Christmas Vacation and have had a wonderful time. There is so much to do with the family whether you stay on the property or visit the local towns. J.C. the owner, was very accommodating and willing to do what ever he could to make our stay more enjoyable and comfortable. You want be disappointed if you stay here, especially if you need time to relax. We highly recommend Emerald Gate Farm and hope you enjoy it as much as we have. P.S. Say hello to Polly and Clyde.
